HM Ministries

We will claim the depth and significance of our charism of humility which connects us with the whole earth community and unites us in our ministries on behalf of the poor.
- HM Chapter 1997

At the heart of our commitment to religious life are ministries that carry out our traditions and mission. We build on a long history as educators, pastoral ministers, and healthcare and social service providers to continue the life-giving message of Jesus through works of peace and justice.

Pastoral Associates, Pastoral Ministers, Directors of Religious Education (DREs), and volunteers serve parishes in the Cleveland, Erie, Grand Island, Lexington, Pittsburgh, Wheeling-Charleston and Youngstown Dioceses.

Visiting and nursing the sick in France remained a part of the Sisters' ministry when they moved to America in 1864. Smallpox victims and injured railroad workers found compassionate care, which endeared the Sisters to residents of New Bedford, Pennsylvania, and later Lowellville, Ohio. Three major hospitals grew out of these ministries and later became part of Catholic Healthcare Partners (CHP) located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Sisters minister in health care systems as hospital and hospice chaplains, and bereavement caregivers. They care for persons with disabilities, offer geriatric consultation, are directors of mission integration, and serve in governance and management roles and as interpreters for Spanish-speaking patients.

Our life of prayer and contemplation becomes the full-time ministry of our retired Sisters who pray daily for the needs of the Church and the world.
