Sister Jean Vianney, the former Catherine Schnurr, died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Villa Maria Community Center where she had volunteered and shared in the Ministry of Prayer since 2004. Sister Jean Vianney had given 55 years of dedicated service as an elementary teacher in the Cleveland and Youngstown dioceses and with children with special needs at Murray Ridge in Elyria, Ohio.
Sister Grace Marie Kalal recalls that "Sister Jean Vianney’s sense of humor always shone through. I especially remember the love she had for children with special needs with whom she spent twenty some years of her life. Teaching and caring for those children was truly her vocation, a gift from God, the only truly fulfilling means of living life in peace with God and neighbor, which she lived with fidelity and love."
