Statement on Ukraine

As Sisters of the Humility of Mary, Associates and Covenant Companions, we have committed ourselves to be “faithful to the message and mission of the Gospel and the words of Jesus” who commanded us to love one another. As we watch in horror as war unfolds in Ukraine, we unite our hearts with the Ukrainian people and join with Pope Francis in praying:

“Grant us peace, teach us peace;
Guide our steps in the way of peace.
Open our eyes and our hearts, and give us the courage to say:
‘Never again war! With war, everything is lost.’
Instill in our hearts the courage to take concrete steps to achieve peace.”

We join our prayers with others for the Ukrainian people and all who will suffer greatly as a result of this declaration of war and its ramifications.
