Other Ways to Give

Planned Giving

Planned giving, or legacy giving, enables philanthropic individuals to make larger gifts to charitable organizations outside of their ordinary income.  When you include the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in your estate plan, your legacy continues on through our mission and ministries.

Planned gifts can include designating the Sisters of the Humility of Mary as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy, or naming the Sisters of the Humility of Mary as a beneficiary in your will or trust. Gifts can be unrestricted or designated for a special ministry.  A gift by will or trust can name the Sisters of the Humility of Mary to receive a specific amount, a percentage of the estate, or in residual.

Please let us know if you plan to include us in your estate plans!  Those who include the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in their estate planning will be included in our Heritage Society.

Stock Gifts

Giving stock instead of cash as a charitable donation can greatly benefit the donor as well as the recipient. Gifts of long term-appreciated stock are fully deductible up to a maximum of 30% of your adjusted gross income, if you have owned the stock for at least 12 months prior to making the transfer.  If you would like to pursue this opportunity, please contact the Development Office for the appropriate information.

IRA

Those who meet minimum age requirements can transfer up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA as a qualified charitable distribution without penalty of income taxes. Please consult your plan manager for details.  Additionally, assets accumulated in a retirement plan, such as an IRA, can be a legacy charitable gift simply by naming the Sisters of the Humility of Mary as a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary in your estate plans. Tax benefits are based on IRS regulations at the time of the designation.

Donor-Advised Funds

Support the Sisters of the Humility of Mary with a grant recommendation from your donor-advised fund.  This gift can be unrestricted or directed to a specific ministry or program.
